It's no secret that Soviet Silver is rapidly growing in value. In many cases outperforming Soviet Gold collectibles. Granted, it is a far more affordable market and that is exactly what makes it so appealing to many collectors and investors. You can buy a great deal of highly unique jewellery and silverware on a fairly limited budget. Bluntly put, many art dealers witnessed how in a span of two years or so, average prices on Soviet silver jewelry went from $15 - $30 per item to $50 - $200, right before their eyes. That's not a bad return on investment. Of course the fact that Russia is now the focus of attention of all Western mainstream media has greatly benefited this market as well. More and more people are attracted to it for various reasons from pure profit to raw history. Whatever their intentions are, one thing is clear - Soviet silver has made a grand entrance into the world of art, antiques and collectibles. It is rare for a number of reasons however the most important three are as follows: an inscription with the owner's name, region and date; the age of the case, which attributes it to early post WWII period of Soviet history; and the decorations that are very unique, primarily because of the distinctive image of a church with christian crosses on the background (as many of you may know USSR was an atheistic state). This is exactly what collectors seek and art-investors value, and that is why it's such a great addition to our collection.
